Shop Of The Week - Recipe For Homemade MeatBalls - My White Picks Of The Week

My shop of the week choice is Little Kitten Vintage, from a small town near Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

She has a fantastic selection of vintage finds to add to your home. Maybe something that brings back memories to you or if you`re just looking to add a touch of vintage to your home. Have a look!

Now moving on to my meatball recipe find. I was looking for a simple recipe for making some tasty meatballs for my spaghetti sauce. A recipe that wasn`t too technical, but tasty.
Here is what I found.

One Pound Hamburger
1/4 cup Parsley
1 tbsp. garlic powder
3 tbsp. parmesan cheese
1 tbsp. bread crumbs
 1 egg

Mix all ingredients together, roll into mini meatballs, put on greased baking sheet and bake at 350 to 400 degrees for 15 minutes.

Oh, and a couple of extra tips. I used half ground turkey and half ground hamburg. I also used olive oil to grease the baking sheet with, and I added salt and pepper to the mix also.
After they were cooked I added them to my spaghetti sauce and they were delicious, if I do say so myself.

Finally I have got to show you my white finds of the day!

Thats All For Now!
Enjoy your Day!
And Give Those Meatballs A Try!
Would really be good in a homemade meatball grinder too!

A Winter Day That Felt Like Spring

Today felt like a Spring day, it was so nice out not quite 50 degrees, but enough to keep you out for a short time without freezing to death. Shut the heat off in the house and was just running the wood stove to keep it comfortable. I usually keep the electric on at 50 degrees to supplement the wood stove, in case it goes out during the night. Don`t want to get up to a freezing cold house in the morning. Plus it takes longer to warm it back up if the stove goes out and the electric is kept completely off.

So enough about the heat. I have a candle sale going on at Au Naturelle. Winter is a nice time to burn a candle, giving your home a nice pleasant scent when you walk into the room. I have many scents to choose from and some new ones too. How about Fudge Brownie, Wild Cherry, Paris Twilight, Rose Bouquet or Lovespell, a Victoria Secret type scent.

All my candles are all natural soy based and burn clean and for a long period of time depending on the size.

Snow , snow and more snow! Now this is what winter is supposed to be about. Its so pretty, but I`ll take Spring any day. I don`t think they know how much we will get, because they (the weatherman) had said 4 to 6 inches. And I think we passed that a while ago. According to my patio table we have a wee bit more then that.
But I know its not an exact science, a  lot of different things play into the final outcome. I`m no weather man, but I`m sure temperature, wind and air pressure play important roles in the final outcome of a snow storm.
None the less it is pretty. (From the inside of my house that is.) My snow man building days are done. I have been known to make an occasion snowball though.
So, whats a good thing to do on a snowy day? You could clean a closet, but what fun would that be? Why not just grab that good book, plop yourself in your favorite reading spot and go to it.
Just hope someone comes along with a shovel or a plow later right?
Have a good day!

My Amaryllis

Every year right before Christmas, about two weeks to be exact, I usually pick myself up an Amaryllis and some Narcissus bulbs. I like the challenge of bringing them to bloom in January every year. I always try to get a red amaryllis because I simply love red. So here are a few pictures of my beauty in bloom. Also there is one more bud coming. Isn`t the red just awesome. Soon I`ll be sharing some pictures of the narcissus too. So be watching. I`ve also included some tips and info for any one who would like to give this a try. Its so much fun and the results are fantastic and well worth the wait and patience.

Quick Tips:

  • Planting Period:  October until the end of April.
  • Flowering Period:  Late December until the end of June.
  • Flowering time is 7-10 weeks.
  • Larger bulbs produce more flowers.
  • Always store un-planted bulbs in a cool place between 40-50 deg. F.

Amaryllis-One of a Kind

Of all flowering bulbs, amaryllis are the easiest to bring to bloom.  This can be accomplished indoors or out, and over an extended period of time.  The amaryllis originated in South America's tropical regions and has the botanical name Hippeastrum.  The large flowers and ease with which they can be brought to bloom make amaryllis popular and in demand worldwide.  The amaryllis comes in many beautiful varieties including various shades of red, white, pink, salmon and orange.  There are also many striped and multicolored varieties, usually combining shades of pink or red with white.

Preparation for Planting

The base and roots of the bulb should be placed in lukewarm water for a few hours.  Remember, if you cannot plant the bulbs immediately after receiving them, store them at a cool temperature between 40-50 degrees F.

Plant bulbs in a nutritious potting compost, many are available pre-mixed.  Plant the bulb up to its neck in the potting compost, being careful not to damage the roots.  Press the soil down firmly to set the bulb securely in place after planting.

Welcome !

A new year with so much promise! Do you make a New Years resolution? How many people actually do any more. Its a difficult thing to do, because its just one more promise you have to keep for yourself.
And one more thing to add to all the things you already have to do in your busy life.
Is it me or does it feel like life has just gotten to be too hectic. Sometimes it even seems un manageable. Of course the holidays are always extremely busy, but it seems like Christmas and New Years pretty much slammed us this year.
Are you one of those people that say they will start earlier with shopping for next year for Christmas? Are you also one of those people that will buy things for next Christmas and then forget about them or forget where you put them  when Christmas rolls around again?
So much to think about, but now with January upon us, there are new things to think about.
Taxes, paying the bills, etc. etc. Oh Joy!
Wouldn`t it be nice if we could go and hibernate somewhere without any cares like the bears do?
Now that I`ve filled everyones heads with so much to think about, I will leave you
With a wonderful vintage card that I found which was probably sent to someone many years ago.

Happy New Year
And Good Health
And Good Fortune
To All in 2012 !
