Herb Of The Week - Chamomile

Chamomile is my herbal choice of the week.
Herbal remedy for stomach aches, colic, nausea, diarrhea and bloating just to name a few.
* Tooth infections, toothache, dental extractions and its known to cure baby exzema on the face.
Also as far as skin care goes, I use it in many skin care recipes for my shop, Au Naturelle.
It can be used to remove makeup or to disinfect the skin.

Dried Chamomile

I found a wonderful recipe for chamomile tea, if you have an herb garden or just access to these fresh herbs you can make yourself this great tea.

Chamomile Headache Tea

This tea relaxes and relieves headaches.
Add one-half ounce each of lavender, chamomile, and rosemary to a tea strainer and cover with a pint of boiling water. Steep for 10 minutes.
And for using dried chamomile you can make a fabulous shampoo using it dried with baby shampoo.

Basic Chamomile Shampoo

Steep two teaspoons dried chamomile flowers in one-half cup boiling water for 30 minutes. Strain the flowers out of the water and add the water to one cup all natural organic soap, or if you don't have some of that you can use plain organic baby shampoo.
Use as you might any other shampoo.
And for a soothing bath, try this recipe for dried chamomile.

Chamomile Skin Soothing Bath

Place all of the following in a medium size piece of cheese cloth: three tablespoons slightly crushed chamomile flowers, one tablespoon slightly crushed dried lavender, one-half cup oatmeal, two drops cedar essential oil, and one-fourth cup dried powdered milk. Place in your bath for soft, great smelling skin.
